2 Day Introduction to Influenza, Pneumo, Shingles & B12

This course is for those new to this subject and will describe the current UK national programmes for Influenza, Pneumococcal, shingles and B12 vaccines. It will cover all aspects including a brief overview of the immune system, legal issues, accountability, storage and handling of vaccines, Patient Specific directions, infection control, Injection technique and after care and advice.

This course is designed for Registered Nurses Associates and Health Care Assistants new to this subject or who may have previously attended a 2 day Introduction course (Influenza, Pneumococcal, Shingles, B12) but did not complete competencies for Pneumococcal and shingles at the time and now wish to do so.

Travel Health Update
Update in Travel Medicine
This course is designed and delivered by a Travel Specialist Nurse and aims to update Registered Healthcare Professionals with the information and tools to confidently deliver accurate up to date Travel Health advice in a skilled and competent manner.
On completion of this course the practitioner will have up to date knowledge regarding COVID 19 and the impact that it has made on travel. This course focuses on the considerations given to the Psychological aspects of a Travel risk assessment and considerations when advising senior travellers.

Doppler & Leg Ulcer Management Introduction
This is a two day course designed for Nurses and HCAs new to Doppler and Leg Ulcer. By the end, the delegate should be able to:
- Understand the theory behind dopplers,
- Understand the reasons why and how to undertake the procedure and be confident after the
practical session to carry out Dopplers with their own surgery.
- Assess types of leg ulcers.
- Assess who is more at risk of leg ulcers/identify factors which aid wound healing.
- Identify common medical terminology surrounding wounds, wound healing and tissue viability.
- Describe wound dressing techniques and the priorities of different wound dressings/feel
confident after the practical session to dress leg ulcers appropriately.
- Understand the importance of competence assessment in regard to the HCA/Nurse role in
wound care and leg ulcer dressings.
