Basic Wound Care
This is a basic wound care course designed for nurses, RNA’s and HCA’s working in General Practice and new to these skills. It will include A&P of skin & blood supply, assessment of a wound, Aseptic technique, Simple dressings, removal of sutures/clips.

Travel Health Update
Update in Travel Medicine
This course is designed and delivered by a Travel Specialist Nurse and aims to update Registered Healthcare Professionals with the information and tools to confidently deliver accurate up to date Travel Health advice in a skilled and competent manner.
On completion of this course the practitioner will have up to date knowledge regarding COVID 19 and the impact that it has made on travel. This course focuses on the considerations given to the Psychological aspects of a Travel risk assessment and considerations when advising senior travellers.

Travel Health Introduction
This course is designed and delivered by a Travel health Specialist Nurse for Registered Healthcare Professionals who have the opportunity to practice Travel Medicine.
On completion of the course the practitioner will be skilled and competent in delivering accurate and current Travel health care and advice to all travellers in a variety of settings in accordance with the RCN Travel competency guidelines (2018)
The Guidelines will be updated December 2021, this course will be adapted accordingly.

Doppler & Leg Ulcer Management Introduction
This is a two day course designed for Nurses and HCAs new to Doppler and Leg Ulcer. By the end, the delegate should be able to:
- Understand the theory behind dopplers,
- Understand the reasons why and how to undertake the procedure and be confident after the
practical session to carry out Dopplers with their own surgery.
- Assess types of leg ulcers.
- Assess who is more at risk of leg ulcers/identify factors which aid wound healing.
- Identify common medical terminology surrounding wounds, wound healing and tissue viability.
- Describe wound dressing techniques and the priorities of different wound dressings/feel
confident after the practical session to dress leg ulcers appropriately.
- Understand the importance of competence assessment in regard to the HCA/Nurse role in
wound care and leg ulcer dressings.

This interactive session will cover the anatomy and physiology of the peripheral venous system.
'What is blood' - It's components and function.
Consent and accountability. Infection Control.
What is Venepuncture? Selecting which vein to use.
Practical Session.
Commonly requested blood tests and their relevance.
Certification will be provided once course competencies have been completed.
